NCAA-II Women’s Soccer Hire
Southwest Baptist University (NCAA-II in Missouri) announced the hiring of Debbie Pekel for its’ women’s soccer position. Debbie previously led the teams at Spartanburg Methodist College and also New College of Florida. Click here to read more.
Cutter Leaves NAIA Office for CSM
After spending the last four years as the Manager of Eligibility Services at the NAIA National Office, Gillian Cutter is taking her talents on-campus to the College of Saint Mary. She will be the Associate Athletic Director. Robbie Shay is the AD at CSM. Click here to read more.
Starting Women’s Wrestling
Defiance College is starting a women’s wrestling program and got a rising star to be its’ first coach. Shanna Morris is a former NAIA and NCAA-II National Qualifier as a student-athlete and recently spent time as an assistant coach at the NAIA level. Her enthusiasm and desire to grow the sport will be valuable as she builds a strong culture from scratch.
Playoff Coach Heading to SBU
After leading MidAmerica Nazarene University to back-to-back 9-2 records and the NAIA playoffs last year, Paul Hansen is moving up to NCAA-II. Hansen will look to continuing his history of rebuilding programs as he takes the helm of the Southwest Baptist University football team. This search lasted two weeks and Coach Hansen was a “top-recruit”.
First-Ever National Appearance
Bechler Leadership would like to congratulate the Andrew College cheer team on top-10 finish at nationals in their first-ever appearance. First-year coach Richard Watkins hit the ground running and never looked back. He recruited a strong roster and then helped guide them much success this year.
National Champions Get New Coach
Brewton Parker University won national titles in Fortnite and Valorant during the 2024 season. Their coach left to start the program at Baylor University in the spring of 2025. Bechler Leadership conducted a national search to find his replacement and are happy to announce Cody Johansen as the new Director of Esports.
Big 10 Assistant Hired at Junior College
Bechler Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of John Garris as the new Head Softball Coach for the Norse at Bay College in Michigan. Garris was formerly the head coach at DI Southern University and most recently achieved success at the University of Maryland.
State Champion Coach hired at CSM
Our team at Bechler Leadership is delighted to announce. Liz Germonprez has been appointed Head Swim Coach at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, NE. She is a former swimmer at Texas A&M with an extensive coaching background. She’s had success at club, high school, and the college level.
